China confirmed both titles at the World Table Tennis (WTT) Champions on Friday after Fan Zhendong and Liang Jingkun set up the men's singles final.

The Chinese team had secured the women's title when they clinched all four semifinal spots a day ago. Sun Yingsha and Wang Yidi later beat compatriots Chen Meng and Chen Xingtong, respectively, to reach the final.

The WTT Champions held in Xinxiang, central China's Henan Province, features only singles events.

Men's top seed Fan Zhendong survived full seven games against Lim Jong-hoon of South Korea, while women's world No. 1 Sun secured a straight-game victory over Olympic champion Chen.

Fan overcame a slow start to lead by two games before Lim gave himself a lifeline in the third. Fan gained the upper hand and was one game away from a final spot after taking the fourth by a score of 12-10. Lim, however, staged a strong comeback, claiming the fifth and sixth games to force the match into the decider. Fan overcame the challenge with a 11-9 scoreline in the deciding seventh game.

As for Sun, she credited herself for a stable mindset and strong will to "fight for every point"in what ended in a 11-5, 11-5, 11-7, 11-6 win.

Both finals are set to take place on Saturday.
