Japanese PM Kishida unharmed after explosion heard before speech

A loud explosion was heard at a fishing port in Wakayama City, where Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida was visiting on Saturday morning, NHK reported.

Kishida has reportedly left the site and is safe.

According to the Wakayama Prefecture police, a man was arrested at the scene.

The explosion was purportedly caused by a cylindrical object that was hurled at the site, Jiji Press reported.
