The commander of Sudan's Rapid Support Forces (RSF), General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, better known as Hemedti, called army chief General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan a "criminal" and accused the army of carrying out a coup during a live phone interview with Al Jazeera news network on Saturday.
Hemedti said his troops were forced into a confrontation, as clashes with the army erupted across the country following days of tension.
