China's new meteorological satellite to contribute to extreme weather monitoring

The Fengyun-3 07 satellite was sent into its preset orbit by a Long March-4B rocket which blasted off on Sunday from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China.

This is China's first satellite which can actively measure precipitation data.

It will make new contributions to the monitoring and forecast of global extreme weather and climate studies.
