A fierce forest fire in Yuxi City, southwest China's Yunnan Province, was put out on Saturday night, with no reports of deaths or injuries.

Over 3,000 people joined the firefighting efforts with the help of fire engines and helicopters, according to the local firefighting headquarters.

The forest fire broke out on Tuesday in a township in Jiangchuan and then spread to nearby areas.

The Yunnan Forest Fire Brigade dispatched over 800 firefighters and over 9,000 sets of equipment. Three helicopters were mobilized to put out the fire and detect the fire situation, pouring over 1,400 tons of water to the flames.

The headquarters said that by 21:55 Saturday, the fire in Jiangchuan District had been extinguished.
