When grass plants begin to bear seeds, the scaly-breasted munia or spotted munia knows it's time for a happy group feast. The photos below show a group of those fluffy birds enjoying their feast on the meadow at Hainan University's campus in southern China.
These sparrow-sized birds prefer to flock together when foraging or resting. During the breeding season, they only appear in pairs. The scaly-breasted munia is mainly found in southern China, and its preferred habitats are farmland, shrubs, bamboo forests and grass.
