China makes breakthrough in long-distance hydrogen transportation
00:41

The China National Petroleum Corporation has announced a breakthrough as the country moves toward large-scale, low-cost long-distance hydrogen transportation in Yinchuan City, northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. Hydrogen was transported successfully by blending it into a natural gas pipeline, the company said. After 100 days of testing, the 397-kilometer pipeline ran safely and stably. Blending is seen as a means of increasing the output of renewable energy. Officials say the proportion of hydrogen in the company's natural gas pipeline network has reached 24 percent.
