Star defensive end Myles Garrett of the Cleveland Browns announced on Tuesday that he will no longer play in the National Football League (NFL) Pro Bowl after hurting his toe in the event last season.

"Run-away-from-the-cops obstacle course. Jumping over walls and fences. Doesn't make sense to me," Garrett said.

Having hit his big toe on the first wall when he was competing with defensive end Brian Burns of the Carolina Panthers in Las Vegas in February, Garrett said he is still bothered by the injury today. Instead of undergoing a surgery, he had the toe popped back into place, but it has been "nagging" since then.

"It's just frustrating. But by the time the season rolls around, I don't think it will be an issue," Garrett added.

As one of the best players in his position, Garrett defended four passes, forced two fumbles and generated 16 sacks, 18 tackles for loss in addition to 26 quarterback hits in 16 games while carrying a shoulder sprain. Having played six seasons in the league, he has been selected into the first-team All-Pro, second-team All-Pro and Pro-Bowl twice, twice and four times respectively.

Garrett's teammate wide receiver Amari Cooper underwent surgery to repair a core muscle injury in February. Though he was plagued by that problem in the final a few weeks of the 2022 season, Cooper still completed 78 catches for 1,160 receiving yards and nine touchdowns for the team.

"The recovery went well. I feel like I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be," Cooper said. "Healing up real nice. Just ready to get the work in this offseason program and get better."

The Browns finished the 2022 season with a 7-10 record and missed the playoffs, partly because their significant signing, quarterback Deshaun Watson only made six appearances due to suspension.
