Heavy fighting continues in Khartoum amid 24-hour ceasefire

Black smoke and fire rose from the army headquarters in Khartoum on Wednesday morning, amidst the sound of gunfire and artillery. A high-rise building in Sudan's capital caught fire, with burning debris falling from its top floors. 

The death toll from the conflict between the Sudanese Army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Sudan has risen to 270, with more than 2,600 wounded on Tuesday. On the same day, the two sides agreed to a ceasefire for 24 hours, starting at 6 p.m.
