China is willing to strengthen exchanges with The Gambia and provide support to The Gambia's development, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Qin Gang told his Gambian counterpart Mamadou Tangara at the sidelines of the Lanting Forum on Chinese Modernization and the World on Friday.
As a good friend and partner of China, The Gambia has deepened political mutual trust and achieved fruitful cooperation with China, Qin said. He expressed appreciation for The Gambia's firm adherence to the one-China principle and said that China is advancing comprehensive modernization, which will bring greater development opportunities to the international community, including The Gambia.
"China is willing to strengthen exchanges with The Gambia at all levels and on governance," Qin told Tangara. "China will continue to provide support to The Gambia's economic and social development within its capacity."
For his part, Tangara mentioned his recent trip to northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and said he witnessed the beauty of Xinjiang. He added that Gambia firmly supports China's position on issues related to Taiwan and Xinjiang, and will continue to adhere to the one-China principle.
The Gambian foreign minister also praised the people-centered governance philosophy of the Chinese government, saying The Gambia hopes to deepen and expand exchanges and cooperation with China in various fields. He also noted that The Gambia supports China's Global Development Initiative, Global Security Initiative and Global Civilization Initiative, and embraces China's continued development.
