Some 15 years ago, a businessman born and raised in Houtang Village, in Wuyuan County, came back home to help revitalize his hometown after he earned his first fortune in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, following in the footsteps of businessmen in the Ming Dynasty. Over the years, the businessman and his wife contributed to building the village's infrastructures, like roads, bridges and streetlights as well as education and healthcare facilities for what some people call "the most beautiful county in China."
