The China Media Group (CMG) 2023 Host Contest, an event expected to pick the country's most promising TV presenters, was officially launched in Beijing on Sunday.
Zhang Guofei, director of CMG's arts program center, introduced the main innovation highlights of this year's contest, which features breaking the restrictions of professional categories and focusing on the comprehensive quality assessment of contestants.
Cultural connotation and appreciation will be enhanced and more classic program elements of CMG will be integrated, Zhang said.
Since the first competition in 1988, the widely-watched TV host contests were held seven times and have produced generations of star hosts for the national broadcaster.
This year's contest will integrate innovative technological means such as XR and AR to assist the upgrade of the overall presentation of the contestants, Zhang added.
Experts and scholars from Beijing Normal University, the National Library of China and Peking University also sent their blessings, expressing their expectations of seeing more young hosts with literacy quality and artistic talents to step onto the stage and tell Chinese stories that reach people's hearts.
