Recently, a flock of more than 20 Siberian cranes have been seen in Qilihai wetland in Tianjin Municipality, North China. This is the first time that such species has been spotted here in a group. The Siberian crane is a large wading bird under first-class state protection in China. With a global population of less than 4,000, it is rated as "critically endangered" by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.
