Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed presented a letter of appreciation and a peace symbol made of bullet casings to Xue Bing, special envoy for the Horn of Africa Affairs of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, to thank China for promoting peace in Ethiopia at an event on Sunday.
Xue was invited to attend the event held by Ethiopian government in Addis Ababa to thank the international community for supporting peace efforts in the country. Chinese Ambassador to Ethiopia Zhao Zhiyuan also attended the event.
The event aimed to sum up the experience and lessons of Ethiopia's independent settlement of domestic military conflicts through the mediation led by the African Union (AU) and express gratitude to relevant parties of the international community for their positive contributions.
Other international delegates including AU Commission Chairperson Moussa Faki Mahamat also attended the event.
