This is the very first time Jimmy Chin, director of "Free Solo", and an American professional mountain athlete, photographer and author, attends the Beijing International Film Festival (BJIFF). During a panel about international cooperation and cultural exchange with films of the event on Monday, Jimmy shared what's so beautiful about filmmaking, saying that it's about passion, courage and transcending cultural boundaries.

He has always been interested in telling stories about human potential and people achieving the impossible, which he believes is a universal theme that crosses cultures. The idea of people achieving greatness, as well as stories about friendship, hardship and how people face challenges have always been his favorites.
