Chinese Vice President Han Zheng on Tuesday said China is willing to share the new development opportunities with businesses around the world, including those of the United States.

Han made the remarks during a meeting in Beijing with Howard Schultz, founder of the Schultz Family Foundation and former chairman and CEO of Starbucks Corporation.

In a reply letter to Schultz in January 2021, President Xi Jinping encouraged Schultz and Starbucks to continue to play a positive role in advancing China-U.S. economic and trade cooperation and bilateral ties, Han noted.

He said that China's basic state policy of opening up to the outside world will not change, and the country is willing to share the new opportunities brought by its new development with businesses around the world, including U.S. businesses.

Han welcomed Schultz and the foundation to continue to actively participate in China's economic construction and reform and opening-up process, and to make new contributions to the development of relations between the two countries.

For his part, Schultz congratulated China for a series of historic achievements it has made in developing the economy and improving people's livelihoods.

He said he is willing to give full play to the influence of the foundation and Starbucks to promote more fruitful economic, trade, cultural and people-to-people exchanges between the U.S. and China.
