Russia said on Wednesday it was expelling 10 Norwegian diplomats as a "retaliatory measure" after Norway announced it was kicking out 15 Russians.
Norway's ambassador to Russia Robert Kvile was handed a note declaring "persona non grata" 10 representatives of the Norwegian embassy in Moscow, Russia's foreign ministry said on Wednesday.
"The Norwegian ambassador was also told that other measures would follow in connection with Oslo's unfriendly actions, including the imposition of restrictions on the hiring of locally recruited Russian citizens by Norwegian diplomatic missions," the Russian ministry said in a statement.
Norway announced on April 13 that it had expelled 15 Russian embassy officials that the Norwegian government said were intelligence officers operating under the cover of diplomatic positions.
