The 2023 Shenzhen Design Week kicked off in south China's Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province on Thursday.

Held by Shenzhen Municipal People's Government, the International Council of Design and China Media Group's Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Great Bay Area Headquarters, the design week will last until May 6.

Participants from more than 30 countries, including designers, leaders of international design organizations and representatives of design schools are set to join the event.

The design week will focus on technological integration and strengthening industrial enablement with a series of themed activities.

This year marks the 15th anniversary of UNESCO awarding Shenzhen the title of "City of Design." As the first city in China to be granted the title, Shenzhen has become an important engine for high-quality development. So far, there are more than 30 listed enterprises related to creative design in Shenzhen, with more than 220,000 designers, and the added value of the city's cultural industry has exceeded 250 billion yuan (about $36 billion) over the 15 years.
