China has warned the U.S. and the Republic of Korea (ROK) against "provoking confrontation" with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).

"All parties should face up to the crux of the DPRK issue and play a constructive role in promoting a peaceful settlement of the issue. We oppose deliberately stirring up tension, provoking confrontation and playing up threats," said Mao Ning, China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson.
