China's Lin Gaoyuan and Chen Xingtong won the mixed doubles title at the World Table Tennis (WTT) Star Contender 2023 on Friday.
The Chinese came back from two games down against South Korean pair Lim Jong-hoon and Shin Yu-bin to take the match 7-11, 9-11, 11-9, 11-6, 11-8.
Lin and Chen were trailing by 0-5 in the third game, but managed to turn the tide and force the match into the decider. Both continued to play in the singles contention after their hard-fought victory.
Chen went through another five-game thriller 11-6, 8-11, 11-5, 5-11, 11-4 against Adriana Diaz from Puerto Rico to reach her third final at this tournament. She will play both the women's singles and the doubles finals on Saturday evening.
Lin had an easier win in the men's singles semifinal when he downed teammate Yuan Licen in straight sets to book a berth in the final, also a personal third. He will contest in both the men's singles and doubles finals as the tournament wraps up on Saturday.
