NATO has been a driving force in the Russia-Ukraine crisis recently. On April 27, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg announced that NATO had armed nine Ukrainian legions, further increasing the tension between the two countries.
Sizo Nkala, a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Centre for Africa-China Studies (CACS) at the University of Johannesburg, pointed out that NATO has not taken Russia’s interests into account. He said that the actions of NATO and the U.S. are undermining global stability and security. He also argued that the "life-extension" of military aid they are providing is making this war a "permanent" trend.
