13th edition of BJIFF wraps up with award ceremony

Celebrating the very best movies have to offer. Celebrities strutted down the glamour of the red carpet to mark the occasion…As filmmakers and actors from around the world, celebrated the cinematic bonanza in Beijing.

The Beijing International Film Festival has drawn to an end, closing with a red carpet ceremony followed by the announcement of this year's winners of the Tiantan Awards.

The festival's top honor, 10 Tiantan awards have been awarded at the festival, out of around 1,500 films from 93 countries and regions.

"Shadowless Tower" was the biggest winner, sweeping five awards and taking home best screenplay, best artistic contribution, best cinematography, best actor and best supporting actor.

Zhang Lv, the director and screenwriter for the "Shadowless Tower" said: "Screenwriting is a one-person battle. It's very lonely at the time, but then the team comes together and it becomes a collective battle. This award should go to the crew who saved me from that loneliness."

"Totem" also made a splash, winning best director, best music, and best supporting actress.

As one of the most anticipated awards, the best feature film goes to "The Punishment". Adrian Solar, the producer of "The Punishment" said : "I'm very grateful to the Beijing International Film Festival, and I'd like to thank the jury again. I'm very excited and moved. It's an honor to be here."

Legendary Chinese director Zhang Yimou was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award, for his decades long contributions to the film industry.
