2 Chinese confirmed dead after vessel capsizes off waters in the Philippines

Two Chinese crew were confirmed dead, and two other Chinese were still missing after a vessel capsized on Friday night off waters in the Philippines, the Chinese Embassy in the Philippines said in a statement on Sunday.  

The Philippine Coast Guard said two vessels, MV Hong Hai 189 and MT Petite Soeur, collided in the vicinity waters off Corregidor Island on Friday night.  

One Philippine crew also died in the incident, while a total of 12 Chinese and three Filipinos were rescued.

The Chinese embassy has activated an emergency mechanism and urged to search for the missing Chinese people and provide medical treatment for the injured.  The search and rescue operation is underway.
