Barcelona beat 10-man Real Betis 4-0 on Saturday to tighten their grip on the top spot, leading to a 27th La Liga title with six games remaining in this season and 11 points clear over second-placed Real Madrid.

Andreas Christensen, Robert Lewandowski, and Raphinha were on target for Barca, and 15-year-old Lamine Yamal became the youngest player in the league on his debut.

Christensen gave Barca an early lead with a header and expanded the edge by Lewandowski and Raphinha within three minutes before halftime.

With an own-goal by Real Betis defender Guido Rodriguez, Barca comfortably took the victory, which kept the visitors sixth in the standings.

Earlier on Saturday, Karim Benzema scored a first-half hat-trick as Real Madrid recovered from a disappointing midweek loss at Girona by beating Almeria 4-2 at home.

Benzema opened the scoring in the fifth minute with a close-range shot from a Vinicius Jr cross and extended the lead 12 minutes later after Rodrygo went past a rival with a backheel dribble and made a cross. He then netted his third from the penalty spot after Lucas Vazquez was fouled inside the box.

Benzema is now one goal behind Robert Lewandowski's haul of 18 goals in the hunt to be La Liga's top scorer this season.
