Paeonia rockii subsp. Taibaishanica, a rare subspecies of peony, recently bloomed in Huangbaiyuan National Nature Reserve located in Baoji City, northwest China's Shaanxi Province. The plant, endemic to China, is under first-class state protection. It has been found in the southern parts of Gansu Province and the central parts of Shaanxi Province.
