Ding Liren is the first Chinese to win FIDE World Championship 2023 on Sunday. The 30-year-old Chinese grandmaster, who had only been granted the chance to compete at the World Chess Championship after top-ranked Magnus Carlsen chose not to defend his title, outclassed Russia's Ian Nepomniachtchi by 2.5 points to 1.5 in a nerve-wracking tiebreak playoff on Sunday.
