Rail strike disrupts Italian train services
01:09

Italian railway workers launched a 24-hour strike, demanding higher wages and better working conditions in the face of soaring inflation. The strike, from 9 p.m. on April 30 to 9 p.m. on May 1, brought nationwide delays and cancellations. Transport workers in the country are set to stage another series of nationwide strikes to demand higher wages – with services in many cities, including Rome, Milan, Naples and Turin, facing further disruptions as workers stage four-hour strikes at different times. The industrial action has been called by the Faisa-Confail trade union and will affect local bus, metro and tram services, with strike timetables varying from city to city.
