Syrian President Bashar al-Assad held talks with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi in Damascus. It's the first visit by an Iranian president since Syria's civil war broke out in 2011. The visit comes just weeks after Iran's landmark agreement to restore ties with rival Saudi Arabia. Arab nations that have isolated Syria after the outbreak of the civil war are also trying to reintegrate Damascus into the Arab fold.
