Editor's Note: Half a century after its creation, the United Nations University (UNU) has fully contributed to uphold the values and the agenda of the United Nations. What will be this prominent global learning center and think tank's mission going forward and how to go about it given the multitude of current challenges? In this edition of the Hub with Wang Guan, Professor Tshilidzi Marwala, the newly-appointed Rector of the United Nations University, says that the Global South needs more representation to create a more global ecosystem in order to address and tackle global issues. He tells Wang Guan that if dialogue and interaction are essential to peace and development, new digital technologies can be an invaluable learning tool and provide young people with better capabilities to understand the world. Marwala is eager to deepen cooperation between the UNU and China, especially in meeting some of the UN's Sustainable Development Goals that are lagging behind globally.
