Martin Griffiths, the UN undersecretary-general for humanitarian affairs and emergency relief coordinator, arrived in Sudan on Wednesday.
"Just arrived in Port Sudan to reaffirm the UN's commitment to the Sudanese people. In awe of the unwavering dedication of the humanitarian community and local volunteers doing their best to help," he wrote on Twitter.
