HK and Macao hold flag-raising ceremonies to celebrate annual Youth Day

People from all walks of life in China's Hong Kong and Macao attended flag-raising ceremonies to mark Youth Day, which is celebrated on May 4 in memory of the May Fourth Movement. During a grand flag-raising ceremony held at the Golden Bauhinia Square in Hong Kong, 1,500 representatives of the youth from 19 uniformed groups marched in line with the Chinese-style foot drill, a marching style of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) renowned for its uniformity, majesty and strength. Another flag-raising ceremony for Youth Day took place at the gymnasium of Macao Polytechnic University, with an attendance of more than 1,200 representatives from the central government agencies in the region, the Macao Special Administrative Region government, teachers and students from multiple schools, and people in different fields.

May 4 is one of the most significant dates, widely celebrated by the Chinese people, particularly the youth.
