Having served as the capital city for 13 Chinese dynasties, Luoyang in central China's Henan has a rich historical legacy and a bounty of cultural heritage. The centuries-old Luoyang historical and cultural block is a must-visit spot for tourists who come to this central Chinese city.

Luoyang historical and cultural block, first built in the Jin Dynasty (1115-1234), consists of five streets dotted with 32 cultural relics and 81 ancient buildings. Most of the buildings were built in the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties and are very well preserved.

Tourists can enjoy themselves when visiting Fuwen Temple, Wenfeng Pagoda, and the Bell and Drum Tower while walking through ancient memorial archways.

Hundreds of shops have sprung up here offering multitudinous intangible cultural heritage products, such as palace lanterns, water banquets, paper cutting, porcelain, gold and silver wares, and sticking plasters. Some of the stores have been operating for decades or even over a century.

To invigorate this ancient block with more modern trends, a night market was introduced to this area with the help of advanced technologies. LED light shows, water curtain animations, bars, and VR halls offer abundant entertainment activities for tourists. Behavioral art and cultural performances are also welcomed in the block.

Since 2015, local authorities have improved traffic and afforestation in and around the site, set up more supporting facilities, and upgraded the drainage and fire control systems to ensure a more pleasing and safe environment for visitors.
