Sayram Lake is the largest and highest alpine lake in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. With the temperature continuously rising these days, Sayram Lake has begun to thaw. Layers of thin ice are pushed to the side of the lake by the waves, presenting a stunning spectacle of an "ice shove." Typically, the lake freezes in late December and melts in May.
