On the vast Hailunwan marine ranch off the coast of Weihai, east China's Shandong, farmers have been busy collecting and drying cultured kelp since late April. The ranch produces 300,000 tons of kelp and 800 tons of abalone each year, and attracts many tourists to experience the ocean economy there.
