China's highest ultra-high voltage substation under construction
00:43

A 1,000-kV substation in Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of southwest China's Sichuan Province has begun its main part construction, making it the ultra-high voltage (UHV) substation being built at the highest altitude in China. With a capacity of six million kVA, it raises the record for the highest substations in China from 1,500 meters to 3,450 meters. Upon completion of the project, the main power grid in southwest China will be able to lift its voltage level from 500 kV to 1,000 kV and deliver 12 billion kWh of clean electricity annually.
