Chinese Premier Li Qiang on Saturday met with International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach in Beijing, with the two sides expressing their willingness to oppose the politicization of sports.
The Chinese premier hailed the importance of the IOC in promoting world peace and human civilization, and reiterated China's commitment to sporting development.
Highlighting the success of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and the participation of 300 million people in ice and snow sports, Li voiced China's willingness to make greater contributions to the Olympic movement and the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
Bach said that the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games is an unparalleled success, leaving a valuable legacy for the Olympic Games.
He expressed appreciation for China's long-standing support, saying the IOC looks forward to strengthening cooperation with China to mobilize more people around the world to participate in ice and snow sports and help the Olympic movement develop.
