At least nine people were hospitalized after a shooting at a busy suburban Dallas mall on Saturday, local government said Saturday.
"Nine victims were transported to local hospitals by Allen Fire Department. A multi-agency response helped secure the mall. There is no longer an active threat," the government of the Allen City in Texas said on Twitter.
It said a police officer responded to the shooting at the Allen Premium Outlets mall, about 25 miles (40 km) northeast of Dallas, at around 3:36 p.m. and "neutralized the threat."
"The officer engaged the suspect and neutralized the threat. He then called for emergency personnel," the government said, adding that a press briefing will be held later Saturday evening to provide additional details.
Some U.S. media reported earlier that the shooter was dead at the scene, adding that a manhunt was underway for a potential second suspect.
