01:05

Hundreds of representatives from South Korea's civic groups on Saturday gathered in the city center of Seoul to protest a planned visit by Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. Protesters chanted slogans and held signs reading, "Apologize and compensate victims of forced labor," "Oppose the military alliance between South Korea, the U.S. and Japan" and "Oppose the discharge of nuclear-contaminated water into the sea." The protesters heard speeches expressing dissatisfaction with the Japanese government's attitude regarding its past aggression and the Yoon Suk-yeol administration's overall foreign policy toward the U.S. and Japan. Civic groups said they would continue to hold demonstrations in Seoul.
