Since May 3, torrential rains have been battering many parts of east China's Jiangxi Province, triggering floods. According to the provincial emergency management department, from May 5 to 4 p.m. on May 7, the heavy precipitation affected 497,000 people, and 14,000 people were evacuated. China's State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters launched a level-IV emergency response for flood control on May 6. Rescue operations are underway.
