The EU is likely to extend its ban on the free trade of Ukrainian wheat, maize, rapeseed, and sunflower seed in Poland, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, and Slovakia, said the European Commissioner for Agriculture Janusz Wojciechowski on Monday.
The European Commission reached an agreement with the five countries, which had imposed import bans owing to a glut of Ukrainian grain depressing prices on their domestic markets.
Ukraine's Foreign Ministry on April 29 lashed out at Poland and the EU on what it called a "categorically unacceptable" situation concerning the trade restrictions on Ukrainian grain, urging its allies to "find a balanced solution."
Wojciechowski noted that all indications are that the EU will agree to extend the ban on free trade in wheat, maize, rapeseed, and sunflower seeds in the five countries.
The current EU ban on Ukrainian grains and some other agricultural products is set to expire on June 5.
