Shanghai Museum opened around the clock on May 7 for the first time, giving art and culture lovers in the city the chance to browse and admire its various exhibitions at any time of day or night. One of the highlights was “Botticelli to Van Gogh: Masterpieces from the National Gallery, London,” covering 400 years of European art history. Featuring works by art icons, such as Rembrandt and Van Gogh, it aimed to show the evolution of paintings from the Renaissance to 19th-century post-Impressionism through a selection of 52 works by 50 artists. It ran for almost 100 days and closed with this 24-hour museum opening, having welcomed over 400,000 visitors since February.
