As a popular national tourist destination, Nanjing Fuzimiao or Confucius Temple continues to attract hordes of visitors even after the May Day holiday.
It was built in 1034 during the Song Dynasty (960-1279) to worship and consecrate the great philosopher and educator Confucius. It now ranks as a popular tourist attraction with pedestrian shopping streets around restored temple buildings.
