Time is running out for the U.S. Congress to extend the debt ceiling and avoid a default by the government. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said a failure by Congress to raise the debt limit will hit the economy hard. U.S. President Joe Biden is also preparing for a high-stakes meeting with congressional leaders from both parties on Tuesday, in hopes of breaking the impasse. Professor Liu Baocheng, dean of the Center for International Business Ethics at the University of International Business and Economics, says another rise will adding more debt burden onto the individual household.
