A coral conservation volunteer on May 8 captured rare footage of Acropora pruinosa spawning in Shenzhen City, south China's Guangdong Province. Most corals are monoecious. They will release sperm and eggs into the ocean at the same time. These gametes will meet other gametes and join together as embryos, which will develop into coral larvae known as planulae. The planulae will float in the ocean for some time before finding a suitable substrate to attach to and grow into a new coral colony.
