China has declared a diplomat of the Consulate General of Canada in Shanghai as persona non grata as a reciprocal countermeasure, while urging the Canadian side to stop political slander and manipulation based on ideological bigotry, said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin at a press briefing in Beijing on Tuesday. Wang made the remarks while denouncing the Canadian government for declaring a diplomat of the Consulate-General of China in Toronto persona non grata.
