Born in 1971 in south China's Guangdong Province, Qiu Ting became interested in traditional Chinese painting and calligraphy at a very young age, laying a solid foundation in traditional Chinese culture.
By 2000, he had received bachelor's and master's degrees in Chinese painting from the China Academy of Art. In 2004, he received a doctorate from the Academy of Arts and Design of Tsinghua University under the tutelage of master painter Zhang Ding.
Over the past decades, he has been committed to exploring the "language" of Chinese painting, especially the dialogue between traditional ink and wash paintings and other art categories.
