Asia-Pacific an important driver of global growth in 2023: Gita Gopinath
02:19

According to the latest "Regional Economic Outlook" issued by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the Asia-Pacific region will be a relatively bright spot against a backdrop of a difficult global economic recovery. Economic growth in the Asia-Pacific is expected to accelerate from 3.8 percent in 2022 to 4.6 percent in 2023. Gita Gopinath, first deputy managing director of IMF, tells CGTN's Tian Wei that about 75 percent of the growth will come from the Asia-Pacific region in the second half of 2023. China and India are playing a very important role in these growth numbers. She also explains that a big part of the growth for China this year, compared to last year, is due to the consumption rebound.
