China's first commercial aerospace launch site is under construction in the southern Chinese province of Hainan and this immense project is poised to see its first commercial launch next year.

The construction began in July last year, and two launch complexes for liquid rockets are taking shape, about to be completed by the end of this year.

The fixed service structure for the first complex is going on smoothly. When completed, it will become core of a launch pad, with 11 stories measuring 83 meters tall. The lightning towers and refueling system for the complex is also under construction.

And some 600 meters away is the second launch complex, which is going through the underground construction period.

The two complexes for the solid rocket launch missions will start construction later this year, according to a top manager named Guo Qiang, a board member of Hainan International Commercial Aerospace Launch Company.

Guo said that the construction of the commercial aerospace launch site can make up for the problem of lacking launch capacity in China, since the country initiated the commercial space programs in 2015 with many space rocket enterprises emerged.

"The design capacity of each of our two complexes for liquid rockets is 16 launches per year. So, after completion, the site will have a large launch capacity—a very big boost to our commercial spaceflight industry," Guo said.

He explained the site will begin launches in the second quarter of 2024 to meet the booming commercial needs in China, and with the blueprint coming into reality, the future commercial launch site will also bring people closer to their space dreams.
