A thousand years ago, merchant ships departing from Chinese ports carried exquisite porcelain to every corner of the world. One of the major sources of that porcelain was the Yue Kiln Sites at Shanglin Lake in Zhejiang, which was at its height during the Tang and Northern Song dynasties. Today, the fragments that are still being unearthed there bear witness to the outstanding skill of the porcelain makers and the splendor of ancient Chinese culture.
