China launched the Tianzhou-6 cargo spacecraft atop a Long March-7 carrier rocket to deliver essential supplies to astronauts on board China's space station. The Long March-7 Y7 carrier rocket carrying the Tianzhou-6 blasted off at 9:22 p.m. (Beijing Time). After several minutes, Tianzhou-6 separated from the carrier rocket and entered its designated orbit. The solar panels of the cargo craft then unfolded. The Tianzhou-6 spacecraft will carry out a fast, automated rendezvous and docking with the rear docking port of the Tianhe core module of the space station combination. The launch of Tianzhou-6 marks the first space flight since China's space station entered into the application and development stage after construction was completed late last year.
